Hurricane Ida’s Impacts felt in the US

· Hurricane Ida made landfall on August 29, 2021 in Louisiana (LA). Ida was a category 4 storm that packed 150 mph winds and heavy rain that caused major damage as it moved inland. Impacted areas not only were inundated with damaging winds but also faced flooding.

· This hurricane caused major power outages all over LA including at the Port of New Orleans. Although the port reports no major damage from the storm, due to electrical disruption affecting most of the city, they currently remain closed. There are 3 vessels pending birthing at the facility and two more vessels are scheduled to arrive soon. Power restoration may take days to weeks to take place for most of the city of New Orleans.

· The trucking industry will also see a major impact resulting from Ida. Many trucks across the county will be diverted to take needed and necessary supplies from FEMA and other agencies to help those most in need as well as help start the rebuilding process.
