· To keep seeing positive results LA and LGB are asking US regulators to extend the program allowing for lower nighttime pickup fees. The program currently expires on January 31, 2022 and despite a measurable increase in traffic not being seen during these off hours, any cargo movement is helping to relive pressure at the port.
· The ports are also in talks with major container lines to incentive carriers to take more empty containers then they discharge. At these terminals an estimated 47% of containers are empty containers. If an incentive program is created this should help to clear more backlogged containers opening more space for import cargo.
