· The US has had multiple major winter storm systems move over large areas in the county for the last week. These storms have been dropping large amounts of snow in locations not typically known for this type of weather, as well as sleet and freezing rain. Winds have also been adding an additional layer to the winter weather hazards.
· Another storm is taking aim stretching from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast and will include freezing rain and snow. Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia are all areas going to be affected by this storm and this will undoubtedly affect cargo trucking as major highways will likely be icy preventing safe travel for several days as temperatures are expected to stay below freezing for several days.
· There are multiple major lanes of concern including Interstates 26, 35, 37, 40, 64, 69E, 77, 85, 95 and 17 affecting lots of container trucking. Delays should be expected for deliveries in these locations, and it is unclear how ports may be affected with the upcoming weather but it likely closures may occur as this system moves through the country Thursday and Friday.
