· On Tuesday the Biden Administration announced a new project titled Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW). FLOW is designed to connect supply chain participants in an information sharing initiative. A pilot group is expected by the end of summer to develop a proof-of-concept information exchange.
· The pilot group has been stated with 18 participants from multiple sectors in the supply chain including shippers, container lines, ports, terminal operations, logistics providers, and chassis lessors. Some notable participants in this initiative include Mediterranean Shipping, CMA CGM, as well as the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and the Georgia Ports Authority as well as Fenix Marine, CH Robinson, FedEx, UPS, and FlexiVan.
· This imitative comes as the US Federal Martine Commission (FMC) continues to work to better understand data gaps in the supply chain and are expected to hold a digital summit this summery to release recommendations based on their findings.
