NY-NJ Feeling the Peak Season Pressure

· As peak season continues more and more ports are reporting a backlog of vessels waiting to berth. The port of New York and New Jersey are no exception as they currently have 9 vessels anchored off the port.

· This number although not as staggering as the vessels pending at other US ports. It is still important to note that the New York and New Jersey port is also feeling the pressure. Through August and most of September the port typically saw 4-5 vessels anchored each day but as the season push continues the port backlog has grown.

· They do not expect this backlog to take as long to clear as areas like LA with over 30 container vessels sitting at anchor and Savannah with 23 docked as well pending berth. The NY-NJ port management also do not think this issue will be ongoing in the region, although this vessel congestion may not be the only strain felt in this in New York and New Jersey. Trucking delays are also affecting the supply chain due to peak season volume increases.
