Union Pacific halts Rail Traffic due to Bridge Outage

· A bridge outage has been reported by the Union Pacific Railroad at the New Mexico Santa Rosa bridge. This bridge is used in Los Angeles, Long Beach and the City of Industry transit to the Midwest including Chicago and Kansas City. This will also affect containers moving from Chicago to Mexica through Nogales and El Paso. Lastly any cargo moving from the Midwest to the west coast will also be impacted.

· The UP has advised they have stopped all moving traffic until further. Any outage will likely have a larger impact as this will create congestion for cargo waiting to transition on the rail in the short term. The UP did provide a statement to the Journal of Commerce “Customers with rail shipments moving through the impacted area should anticipate a 72-hour delay.”
