· An atmospheric river dropped a month’s worth of rain on Vancouver in a matter of a couple of days creating catastrophic flooding in the region last week. The CP and CN rails were forced to stop service to complete repairs from damage incurred in this event. This has halted cargo from to and from the area and prevented imports into the US.
· The CP has announced they will begin rail service again starting Tuesday of this week after completing needed repairs on the damaged railway. The CN expects to reopen service on Wednesday.
· The Port Authority has advised they will be limiting capacity to 50% upon reopening, and will expect to be at full capacity by mid-week next week. With these factors considered the port authority has advised that a delay of 5-7 days for ocean containers should be expected as well as increased dwell time of 3-5 days.
