· The supply chain has been in crisis since the start of the COVID pandemic. With the upcoming holiday season there are real concerns of what may be available for US consumers at retail locations. As backlog of cargo that has been pending arrival at US ports is starting to arrive pressure is being seen on new levels of the supply chain.
· The US faces a nationwide truck driver shortage. Adding an additional squeeze in the lines of transpiration as freight volume has increased there are less drivers to deliver truckloads to warehouses and retailers.
· There is also a new challenge in the warehousing sector. Storage space near port locations have decreased across the country and with little available locations to move inventory to, retailers are scrambling to find options. With the lack of warehousing facilities this will affect consumers ability to shop especially with online retailers as this rising issue will likely cause shipping delays to shoppers.
