· Recently due to impacts from multiple typhoons in Asia delays in the supply chain are to be expected. Several port locations through Southern China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were required to shut down for multiple days due to the extreme weather conditions during these weather events. Any closure to a port location causes a backup of cargo and delays to vessel schedules. This however is a special case to take note of as this affects multiple locations and will have global reach in the supply chain.
· Additionally, the US has been hard hit with several hurricanes that included rapid intensification. These storms have major effects to the impacted areas but these effects ripple throughout the supply chain as trucking rates go up due to a spike in trucking demand to get need supplies to severely impacted locations. As Hurricane Lee is rapidly intensifying with an unknow path and timeline this storm may bring additional delays to the supply chain as well as any future storms during this still active hurricane season.
